The map is an original creation by our design studio at Africa Map Art. Data for this map has been compiled from various up-to-date sources including from the OpenStreetMap contributors. Our default paper choice is high quality 230gsm heavyweight coated paper with a matte finish which produces excellent colour and resolution perfect for framing. 260gsm photo paper with a satin finish is an alternative option.
This map is currently available in a 60 x 40cm size at a scale of 1:30,000; a 90 x 60cm size at 1:20,000 and a larger map of 120 x 80cm at 1:15,000. Please note that this is not a folding map.

This town of 96,000 residents is primarily built on the northern shore of the Knysna Estuary. Fed by the Knysna River, this important estuary opens to the ocean after passing between two large sandstone headlands. These are popularly known as ‘The Heads’ and have become infamous due to the loss of boats and fishermen passing through their unpredictable waters. The town was officially established in the early 19th century and was formally declared a port in 1817, with wood from the surrounding forests being shipped to Cape Town and other South African ports. Due to the shallowness of the waters and the treacherous channel through The Heads, it was de-proclaimed as a port in 1954. Today, Knysna is a major Garden Route lifestyle destination, celebrated for its scenic beauty, the annual Oyster Festival, and its role as a hub for eco-tourism and outdoor activities.
