Real Role Models: Successful African Americans Beyond Pop CultureAll young people need good role models, and black youth especially need positive and real examples beyond the famous and wealthy people they see on SportsCenter highlights and MTV Cribs. All young people need good role models, and black youth especially need positive and real examples beyond the famous and wealthy people they see on SportsCenter highlights and MTV Cribs. While success as a celebrity athlete or entertainer may seem like an achievable dream, the reality is that young African Americans have a much greater chance of succeeding in the professions through education and hard work--and a mentor to show them the path. Real Role Models introduces high school and college-age African Americans to twenty-three black professionals who have achieved a high level of success in their chosen fields and who tell their stories to inspire young people to pursue a professional career and do the work necessary to achieve their dreams.

Some of the individuals profiled by Joah Spearman and Louis Harrison, Jr., include Leonard Pitts, Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for the Miami Herald; Melody Barnes, Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council; Danyel Smith, editor-in-chief of Vibe; and Dr. Tim George, Chief of Pediatric Neuroscience at Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas. They and other interviewees describe their backgrounds, career paths, and desire to give back by helping others reach their goals. Representing a wide range of occupations, these real role models prove to African American youths that a whole world of successful, rewarding careers awaits them.

Awesome, inexpensive alternative to name-brands!
Size: 36 sqft
Awesome. Stuck well with alcohol prep and time to let liquid flash-off. Very consistent, piece to piece. Backing peeled easily when desired. Compared to Amazon Basics, the butyl seemed a little thicker (infinitesimally) and stickier, foil was less thick than Amazon Basics. Very good value. Started with my nice car, but after completing project, sound dampened all cars in the immediate family it made such a noticeable difference in sound level and quality of music from soeakers. Recommended!

Great sound deadening material with easy installation.
Size: 36 sqft, Size: 36 sqft
This sound-deadening mat was easy to install on the roof of my Toyota FJ Cruiser. It significantly stiffened the roof and dramatically reduced the wind noise inside the vehicle caused by my roof rack and lights. I can actually carry on a conversation again without shouting while driving on the freeway. The 36-square-foot package was enough for my application, with about three sheets left over. The tiles adhered well to the metal without any special surface preparation. I only wish I had done this sooner.

Gama Sonic Solar Lights: Built to Last and Guaranteed
Number of Items: 2
These lights are nice and bright and stay on all night. I have other Gama Sonic solar lights also. One of them, which I didn't buy from Amazon, had a problem so I contacted Gama Sonic directly because they have a 2-year warranty. They responded immediately and I got it fixed and now I'm happy with it. I will keep buying their solar lights because they make good quality solar lights and have a 2-year warranty.

Very strong construction--no plastic
Number of Items: 2
Expensive, but appears to be very well made. The lights are made of aluminum, so the support is sturdier than the usual plastic. The poles are in two parts, so you have a choice of heights the light is above the surface. Battery replacements are expensive, but you should get two years or more from a battery. You have a choice of a quite bright white light or a less bright yellow light.
